Michael was appointed as a Deputy Clerk of the Privy Council by The King in October 2026. Alongside this role, Michael currently serves as the Deputy Director of the Constitution Division in the Cabinet Office.
As Deputy Clerk of the Council, Michael is responsible for covering the duties of the Clerk of the Council in his absence, when requested to do so.
He was appointed a Member in the Royal Victorian Order (MVO) in the 2024 New Year’s Honours, in recognition for his services to the Royal Household, on the occasion of the Coronation of Their Majesties The King and The Queen.
