Ceri King LVO

Head of Secretariat and Deputy Clerk of the Privy Council

Ceri has been Head of Secretariat at the Privy Council Office since 2007; and was appointed as a Deputy Clerk of the Privy Council by Queen Elizabeth II in November 2007.

As Head of Secretariat, she is responsible for Privy Council meetings, Royal/Constitutional matters, ecclesiastical matters, statutory healthcare regulation, medical institutions and Royal Colleges, veterinary matters, financial institutions, legal professions, Visitors’ cases, the arts, leisure and sport, charities, accountants’ professional bodies and the appointment of High Sheriffs in England and Wales.

As Deputy Clerk of the Council, Ceri is responsible for covering the duties of the Clerk of the Council in his absence, when requested to do so.

She was appointed a Lieutenant in the Royal Victorian Order (LVO) in the 2023 New Year’s Honours, in recognition for her services to the Privy Council.
